Flags and bunting have been installed in the town centre by the Town Council as part of the celebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics.

Recycling and Waste Collection days changing
Recycling and Waste Collection days are changing from 1 May 2012.
Following a review of the current service, Chelmsford Borough Council is improving the recycling and waste collections. New software has allowed the collection routes to be optimised, so all households in the borough will receive a recycling and waste collection on one single day.
Councillor Roy Hardman was co-opted onto the Town Council at the Town Council’s meeting held on 17th April 2012. He represents residents in the Chetwood Ward. Councillor Hardman has lived in the Town for 28 years and is a company Director for a business based here in South Woodham Ferrers.

The Starz Youth Club which is operated by the Town Council is still open on a Tuesday and Friday evening at the William de Ferrers Centre despite the closure of the Essex County Council nights.
Queens Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
To celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Town Council is holding an event on the evening of Monday 4 June at the Village Hall Playing Fields in Hullbridge Road.
Derek Farr has joined the Town Council team as the new Town Clerk. He joins us from Witham Town Council and arrives in time for him to celebrate 30 years experience in local government

South Woodham Ferrers Allotment Enquiries
We are frequently asked who runs the allotments in Marsh Farm Road, South Woodham Ferrers.....
At a Policy and Resources Committee meeting held on 27 March 2012, the William de Ferrers School was awarded a grant for financial assistance towards their Annual Insight into Management Course for the Year 12 students of the school.
The Committee also received a presentation from the Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl following the event held in 2011.
Chelmsford Womens Aid in South Woodham Ferrers
There is currently an established group which meets at the CVS in Chelmsford on a Friday between 1pm and 3pm, this has now expanded to Ladies that Latte in South Woodham Ferrers.
Ladies that Latte takes place in The Chetwood Children's Centre, Gandalfs Ride, South Woodham Ferrers CM3 5ZD tel 01245 329240 every Friday morning from 10am to 12pm.
South Woodham Ferrers Town Council has recently created a Youth Council Group which has been tasked to help set up a Youth Council for the town.
The Youth Council has a remit and will be expected to bring forward ideas and act on information and projects already identified from research amongst the youth of the town.
