At the Annual Town Council Meeting on 14 May 2013, Town Councillors selected Councillor Christine Weir-Ewing to be the new Town Mayor.
Christine has lived in the town since 1981 with her husband Richard and has two grown up children who both went to school locally. She works as a Technical Sales Manager for a leading local company.
Over the years she has been actively involved in the community, was a governor at Trinity St Mary's School and joined the Town Council in 1990, serving as Deputy Town Mayor in 2007 and 2008.
Christine is a keen allotmenteer and can often be seen working away growing a huge variety of produce for her family and friends, a passion she shares with her twin sister. She is also a member of South Woodham Ferrers Handbell Team for many years playing for many local and not so local groups at various functions and even appearing on TV!
The new Town Mayor is confident that she can represent the residents of South Woodham Ferrers in the wider community and looks forward to meeting more residents in the forthcoming year.
