Mission Statement: To work towards enhancing the quality of life for the community of South Woodham Ferrers

Aims of the Town Council

• Plan for South Woodham Ferrers
• To consider all aspects of development and regeneration throughout the Town having regard to the Plan for South Woodham Ferrers
• Clubs and Organisations
  To encourage and support the various groups based in the town by using the grants and loans scheme.
• Leisure and Community Facilities
  To promote and maintain leisure and community facilities througout the town.
• Fenn Management
  To maintain and enhance the common land at Woodham Fenn
• Garden of Remembrance
  To maintain, improve and enhance the Garden’s facilities to provide a peaceful haven within the Town through a planned programme of works and projects.
• Healthy, Safe and Secure Environment
  To continue to support effective C.C.T.V. throughout the town in conjunction with Chelmsford Borough Council.
  To support the provision of improved street lighting in the town.
• To encourage effective community policing in the town and receive regular reports.
  To support all necessary Agencies in the provision of foot and cycle ways and finger posts.
• To work with the necessary Agencies encouraging them to provide high quality public transport within and outside the Town and to receive regular reports.
  To maintain pressure on the appropriate authorities for the provision of local health facilities through discussion with the Primary Care Trust and Healthcare 2000.
  To maintain pressure on the appropriate Agencies for the provision of a high quality streetscene by litter and graffiti control and resisting inappropriate development.
• Development and Promotion of the Town
  To raise the town’s profile, encouraging appropriate development and employment opportunities.
  To safeguard the interests of the current residents in any proposed development of the Town.
• Town Council Accessibility
  To improve access to Town Council properties and facilities by use of audit and review.
• Town Council Communications
  To improve communications on the Town Council’s works, plans, objectives and achievements through the use of press releases and the Annual Report.
• Youth Facilities
  To continue to provide a Drop in Facility for the young people of the Town and to work with other Authorities in order to continue to increase and improve the services and facilities for younger residents of the town.
