Town Centre Maintenance Update

Chelmsford City Council are currently carrying out improvement works in the town centre across publicly owned spaces. As part of this programme, de‑weeding and deep cleaning are taking place around Trinity Square and sections of Chandlers Way. Town’s Annual Car and Bike show

On Sunday (August 2nd), the Town Mayor - Cllr. Bob Massey, together with his consort - Ali Massey, spent a wonderful few hours at our Town’s Annual Car and Bike show on the William de Ferrers school playing field. The show was organised by the Jaguar Drivers Club Area 33, supporting Essex & Herts Air Ambulance As a pair of lifelong ‘petrolheads’ , they had a great time, admiring some truly beautiful machines, Porsches, BMWs, Mustangs, Corvettes, MX5s, and, of course, Jaguars. Ali loved the ‘E’ Type Jaguars, while Bob confesses a soft spot for Chevrolet Bel Airs. But, after much deliberation, their choice for ‘best in show’ was a beautiful Jaguar XJS V12 in subtle JPS livery, owned by Steve Sexton. Cllr. Bob Massey and Ali expressed their thanks to the Jaguar Drivers Club Area 33 for a great afternoon and for hosting such a fabulous event and confirmed their intention to return next year. Train users can start planning their journeys to and from Chelmsford’s new railway station with fares and travel options revealed for Beaulieu Park ahead of its expected opening on Sunday 26 October. Operated by Greater Anglia, the first new station on the Great Eastern Main Line in more than a century will provide travel to London Liverpool Street in 40 minutes and to Chelmsford in just 4 minutes. As pupils across Essex return to school for the new term, we are issuing a timely reminder to parents, carers, and all road users to take extra care around school zones - particularly during drop-off and collection times. With increased traffic and pedestrian activity near schools, we’re urging drivers to remain vigilant, observe speed limits, and avoid parking dangerously or obstructively. Officers in Harlow carried out patrols outside a local school to tackle unsafe driving and parking during drop-off times. Issues included speeding, children without seat belts, and vehicles parked dangerously close to the school. The second day saw some improvement, with more families walking, but unsafe behaviour continued. We’re urging all road users to stay alert and considerate to help keep children safe. Read More...

Message from Chelmsford City Council You can no longer pick up EXTRA rolls of recycling bags for plastics from Champions Manor Hall or South Woodham Ferrers Library. This is to cut down on single-use plastics and to stop recycling bags being misused. However, we will continue to deliver one roll of plastic sacks (52 bags on each roll) to each household in Chelmsford once a year. If residents run out of bags, we are also happy to collect recycling in any non-branded bags, as long as they are made of clear plastic. These can be brought from supermarkets or even re-purpose any clear plastic bags that come with products you buy. Read More...
