For 2024, our chosen theme marks the 80th Anniversary of D Day. During May and June 1944, the area around Essex was busy with troops and vehicles, making ready to embark from ports and loading areas all around the Essex coast. Soon the busy fields and roads would be empty and the Allied Forces would land on first beaches on the 6th June 1944 in operation Overlord.
We want you all to join in that wartime spirit, and imagine what it would have been like if our town centre had been there at that time.
Travel back in time with us on the 8th June and take part in remembrance with our beacon lighting on the 6th June.
