Two projects that will be commencing very shortly at South Woodham Leisure Centre aimed at supporting women. The first is the “With You in Mind”, this is a 12 week programme that will run on a Sunday Morning from 1st March to try and tackle women’s social isolation and improve mental health. The second is “Women Time” which is a 12 week women only gym based fitness programme starting on 27th Feb for those that can feel nervous or reluctant to go to the gym for various reasons. As pupils across Essex return to school for the new term, we are issuing a timely reminder to parents, carers, and all road users to take extra care around school zones - particularly during drop-off and collection times. With increased traffic and pedestrian activity near schools, we’re urging drivers to remain vigilant, observe speed limits, and avoid parking dangerously or obstructively. Officers in Harlow carried out patrols outside a local school to tackle unsafe driving and parking during drop-off times. Issues included speeding, children without seat belts, and vehicles parked dangerously close to the school. The second day saw some improvement, with more families walking, but unsafe behaviour continued. We’re urging all road users to stay alert and considerate to help keep children safe. Read More...

The Chelmsford Local Plan was adopted in 2020 by Chelmsford City Council, and sets out how much new development is needed and identifies land for housing, schools, shops and jobs as well as areas for protection, such as open space and sites important for wildlife. Chelmsford City Council have undertaken two previous stages of consultation in 2022 and 2024 and have considered all the responses alongside updated evidence, national planning policy, new local priorities, and monitoring data to progress to the Pre-Submission stage. PLASTIC RECYCLING

Message from Chelmsford City Council You can no longer pick up EXTRA rolls of recycling bags for plastics from Champions Manor Hall or South Woodham Ferrers Library. This is to cut down on single-use plastics and to stop recycling bags being misused. However, we will continue to deliver one roll of plastic sacks (52 bags on each roll) to each household in Chelmsford once a year. If residents run out of bags, we are also happy to collect recycling in any non-branded bags, as long as they are made of clear plastic. These can be brought from supermarkets or even re-purpose any clear plastic bags that come with products you buy. Read More...
