Driving helps people stay independent and connected, but changes in eyesight, reaction times and thinking skills can make it harder as we age. To keep everyone safe, we work with East Anglian DriveAbility to offer 'Fitness to Drive' assessments.
These sessions are designed to build confidence, refresh skills and update drivers on road laws and vehicle technology. They’re available for drivers over 70, those with medical conditions, or anyone using an adapted vehicle. Assessments include eyesight checks, reaction tests and a short drive in a dual-control car with an instructor and therapist.
Adaptations like larger mirrors, automatic braking and lane departure warnings can also be tried to make driving safer and more comfortable. Self-referrals are welcome, giving peace of mind to drivers and their families while helping reduce crashes and keep people on the road longer.
