Home addresses are not published on the Register of Interest Forms for personal safety unless in agreement with the Town Councillor. Every elected Councillor lives or works in South Woodham Ferrers. South Woodham Ferrers Town Council has (GPoC) General Power of Competence which is a power introduced under the Localism Act 2011, which gives eligible local councils the legal capacity to do 'anything that an individual may do' provided it is not prohibited by law.
Criteria for the General Power of Competence
1. At Least two thirds of the members of the council must have been elected. ( 17 out of 20 of the South Woodham Ferrers Town Councillors are elected).
