PLASTIC RECYCLING

PLASTIC RECYCLING

Published: 25 Feb 20

Message from Chelmsford City Council You can no longer pick up EXTRA rolls of recycling bags for plastics from Champions Manor Hall or South Woodham Ferrers Library. This is to cut down on single-use plastics and to stop recycling bags being misused. However, we will continue to deliver one roll of plastic sacks (52 bags on each roll) to each household in Chelmsford once a year. If residents run out of bags, we are also happy to collect recycling in any non-branded bags, as long as they are made of clear plastic. These can be brought from supermarkets or even re-purpose any clear plastic bags that come with products you buy. In January we launched our Essex wide Plastic Pledge campaign to encourage our residents to reduce the use of plastics, which we provide advice and suggestions about using alternatives to plastic and the benefits to our environment by doing this. To date we have over 2700 pledges of which 407 are from Chelmsford and are continually promoting the pledge on social media. We are encouraging as many people as possible to sign our Plastic Pledge, including , please do sign up by visiting here. Please see attached poster with further information on how to optimise the space in the bags, please let me know if you would like hard copies of the poster and how many and we will send them out to you.
