Let’s SCRAP Fly Tipping | | | Local councils have joined together to support a Love Essex campaign to tackle fly tipping in the county.
In 2024 Chelmsford City Council received 2,024 reports of fly tipping across the district. Around 60% of fly-tips were household waste.
Unfortunately, illegal waste operators target everyone from householders to big businesses, with offers of cheap waste disposal. But legally, your waste is YOUR responsibility regardless of who dumps it. So next time you have something to get rid of, that can't be reused, remember to follow the S.C.R.A.P. code:

Day of Action at Chelmsford’s transport hub | | | On 22 January, community protection officers teamed up with Essex Police, British Transport Police, and colleagues from Love Your Chelmsford for a ‘Day of Action’ to tackle littering in and around Chelmsford’s transport hub.
Partnership working is very important to us, particularly when tackling wide-spread problems like littering. It’s great to join together with other organisations to demonstrate that we all work towards the same goal of creating a fairer, greener and more connected Chelmsford.
As part of the S.C.R.A.P. campaign, our community protection team will be carrying out increased patrols around littering and fly tipping hotspots. They will be engaging with the public to spread awareness about the impact of fly tipping and exactly what constitutes fly tipping. Did you know that leaving items outside a charity shop is fly tipping? And leaving rubbish bags next to a bin is, too! | |
