Grand Opening of Pet Scattering Copse & Memorial Area

Today, the Town Mayor, Cllr Bob Massey, accompanied by his consort Ali Massey, officially opened the new Pet Scattering Copse & Memorial Area within the Garden of Remembrance in South Woodham Ferrers by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

Joining the occasion were the Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Lisa Kelly, together with the Mayor of Chelmsford, Cllr Lynne Foster, and Mayoress Corinne Tutton, along with Town Councillors, Essex County Councillor Christopher Benn, Town Council staff, and the contractors who helped bring this community project to life.

The Pet Scattering Copse provides a small peaceful natural area and setting where families can scatter the ashes of a beloved companion, take time to reflect, and remember.

Memorial plaques are also available through the Town Council.

Applications are now open.

Fees:

£30 – Unstaffed use of the Copse.

£50 – A Town Council representative can attend or carry out the scattering on your behalf (no spoken ceremony).
