Fraud Awareness in South Woodham Ferrers

Published: 04 March 2026

This week, the Essex Police Fraud Prevention Coordinator delivered a Fraud Awareness Talk to members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) at Champions Hall, South Woodham Ferrers.

It was a fantastic and very well attended session, with over 60 members taking part. The presentation covered a range of current fraud trends, including online scams, courier fraud, investment scams, and how criminals target vulnerable individuals. Attendees also received practical advice on how to stay safe, protect personal information, and report suspicious activity.

Events like this are a great opportunity for us to engage with our local community, raise awareness, and help residents feel more confident in spotting the signs of fraud.

A big thank you to the U3A group for welcoming us and for their brilliant questions and engagement throughout the session.
