The Parish of South Woodham Ferrers was created on 1 April 1987 by virtue of the Chelmsford. (Parishes) Order 1987.
The village had previously shared its Parish Council with Woodham Ferrers and Bicknacre. South Woodham Ferrers Parish Council existed for only six days as at its meeting on 7 April 1987 it was resolved that the Parish Council be henceforth known as South Woodham Ferrers Town Council.
During its over 35 years existence the Town Council office has been located in three places, but now resides in Champions Manor Hall, which also has a wide range of facilities available to book and currently used by a number of groups and clubs.
Our current Mayor is Alan Shearring, with our Deputy Mayor Toni Perham Lake. We also have 18 other town councillors, who work with local people and preside on various committees and working groups. We currently have no vacancies , but we always want to hear from those interested in joining in the future.
