Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday 2025.

South Woodham Ferrers Town Council was honoured to once again host the Remembrance Sunday ceremony in partnership with the local Royal British Legion.
This year marked the unveiling of our poignant new memorial figure, our 'Poppy Man', created in tribute to all those who served and sacrificed. The poppies adorning him were generously donated by local residents and lovingly sewn by members of Hamilton Court Retirement Housing, reflecting the community’s deep respect and remembrance.

In addition, a striking sea of poppies was draped over two pillars of the town’s Bandstand, illuminated in red each evening to evoke solemn reflection and gratitude.
On Sunday 9th November, the community gathered in strength and unity. Veterans, members of the public, our Mayor and Deputy Mayor, fellow councillors, cadets, uniformed youth groups, and representatives from many local organisations joined together for the service of remembrance, led with grace and reverence by the Reverend J King.

We thank all who contributed, attended, and supported this meaningful occasion. Lest we forget.
