Welcome to South Woodham Ferrers

The Parish of South Woodham Ferrers was created on 1 April 1987 by virtue of the Chelmsford. (Parishes) Order 1987.

The village had previously shared its Parish Council with Woodham Ferrers and Bicknacre. South Woodham Ferrers Parish Council existed for only six days as at its meeting on 7 April 1987 it was resolved that the Parish Council be henceforth known as South Woodham Ferrers Town Council.

During its over 35 years existence the Town Council office has been located in three places, but now resides in Champions Manor Hall, which also has a wide range of facilities available to book and currently used by a number of groups and clubs.

Our current Mayor is Alan Shearring, with our Deputy Mayor Lisa Kelly. We also have 18 other town councillors, who work with local people and preside on various committees and working groups. We currently have no vacancies but always want to hear from those interested in joining the Town Council. If you would like to know more about how to help serve your local community and become a councillor, please get in touch with us

Look at this website to find out more about what we do, and how we partner with other organizations to make South Woodham Ferrers one of the most desirable places in Essex to live. If you need more help, you can always contact us
